Torhead WordPress Plugin

You may have seen that the folks behind the incredibly useful Wowhead have been working on performing the same magic for Star Wars: The Old Republic. Their new site, Torhead, aims to become just as useful as the original.

Just like with Wowhead, it’s also possible to incorporate Torhead tooltips into your blogposts. This means that you can add links to abilities like Reanimation and get neat tooltips when you hover over them.

This addon also now supports R2-DB tooltips, allowing you to link to their content e.g. Shamwow.

Download it here.

To make this even easier to implement, I’ve also created a Torhead Tooltips addon for WordPress self-hosted sites. To install it follow these simple instructions:

  1. Unzip the folder and copy the ‘torhead-powered’ folder to ‘wp-content/plugins’
  2. Activate the plugin in the Installed Plugins list
  3. Test it out on a preview page

That’s all there is to it. If you have any problems please let me know in the comments. I’ll be looking to get this in the WordPress Codex in the next few days.

Note: based on the Powered by Wowhead plugin written by Nilved

Updates

  • Now incorporates R2-DB tooltips
  • Now hosted at WordPress Codex

You’re my HERO! I was debating between using torhead tooltips versus R2-Db, but that settles THAT.

So… I can’t get torhead tooltips to work. I even manually added the code instead of using your plugin, and no dice. I think it’s a problem on their end and not with your plugin. And R2-DB tooltips DO work. I am always amazed with the difficulty of making a blog behave.

Strange. What was it you were trying to link? Did you get an error message at all?

I didn’t get an error message. Just no tooltip pops up when I hover over the link.

Thanks for this! But how do you use the tool tips on the site??

Any time you link to a page in Torhead on blogposts or pages, this addon should add a tooltip to that link. If it’s not working for particular items or abilities then let me know and I’ll feed it back.
