It’s been a busy weekend, mostly consisting of digging further into the Star Wars: The Old Republic beta and avoiding The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim. It’s not that I don’t want to play the game, it’s just that I have a stack of unfinished or unplayed stuff building up because I’m immersed in one MMO or another. I swear that the MMO genre has become the biggest excuse ever for not completing single-player games these days.
During the weekend I decided to dust off the old Youtube channel and start uploading some footage from the SWTOR beta. One of the most common questions I get asked is if it’ll run on x PC or y spec. Although I made a bit of an attempt to address this during my First Impressions post, I figured that it’d be great to show you what I mean.
If you’re not sure how SWTOR will look on your system then this video should help you out. It’s been recorded on my current desktop, but I’ve been using older desktops and gaming laptops as well to get an idea of what settings are needed. If you’ve been putting off buying that upgrade or getting a new PC then hopefully this will be useful.
If there’s anything else that you’d like to see from the beta then please let me know. I don’t want to include huge chunks of story spoiler, but I am hoping to put together some videos explaining Jedi Sage and Sith Sorcerer in more detail. I hope to have these up in the coming weeks.
I mentioned Galleries and Gifts in the title as well. The first is to mention that just as I did with the Cataclysm beta, I’ll be going through and taking screenshots of the SWTOR beta. I’ll mainly be focusing on the game environment rather than giving away story spoilers, but it’ll be updated periodically. Anything of good quality will also get uploaded to Torhead, the new database site from the team behind Wowhead.
Talking about Torhead, my final item is a gift to all the bloggers who are going to be talking about SWTOR in the months ahead. Just as there’s a WordPress addon for displaying Wowhead tooltips (eg: Pyroblast!), I’ve now created one for displaying Torhead tooltops (eg: Force Lightning). You can find out more and download the addon here, and I’ll be adding it to the WordPress codex Soon™.
Ooo, Gaz has YouTube! SUBSCRIBED.
